Study Abroad at Uni. of Glasgow or stick to Australia/NZ?

Greetings,
I’ve been trying to decide where to study abroad and have narrowed it down to either Australia, NZ, or Glasgow (England seems too expensive). Just wondering what the advantage to studying in Scotland would be, as compared to Down Under. For example, I know that airfare is cheaper. Also, I am worried about having to take Scotland finals in Jan. for Semester 2 because my classes back home will start by then. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Come to glasgow – you will have a whale of a time!!!! its brilliant here – i love it AND I AM FROM ENGLAND!!!!!! and no one has ever given me any trouble!!!
Aside from that – its very cheap to live around here and the nightlife is fantastic – and i promise you will make friends fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Airfare Changes

Airfare Questions:

I have a non-refundable plane ticket, with fees for changing dates..$250!?

Now that I must change those dates should I wait till I am overseas and “extend” the trip, or simply take the hit now? I also must pay for change in airfare as well.

I don’t know why it would matter much whether you do it now or later. But there is the chance that a last-minute fare will be high, and you’ll have to pay that difference between fares. Of course, sometimes last-minute fares are low, although that’s becoming less common, especially on popular flights.

If it were me, I’d probably do it now so that I’m guaranteed a seat on the flight I want.

Looking to get away for the holidays? Even though airfares are between 7 percent and 18 percent higher than last year, there are still some great deals.

If you were planning a trip to europe for 6 months…?

what months of the year would you go?
I want summer in spain/greece etc, but snow in france/ denmark etc…and i’ve always wanted to see new year in paris…but i dont want to pay the peak airfare costs in june-august
also what are some really intresting suggestions for ‘not typical’ places to visit, i love beautiful scenery, food, architecture, but also some nightlife…

Oh Lady! You dont want to be in Greece in the summer! Or anywhere along the Mediterainain. It is way too hot and dry! It’s not like Florida, where it is hot and rainy (tropical) it is hot and DRY! I would hit Greece and Spain in September or October, then wonder arounf the North EUrope, Germany, France, Benelux, in late fall/winter it wont be that different than in the summer up there because of the ocean.
Check out Croatia’s Roman Palaces(Cheap!), and then Bulgaria’s Black Sea region(Still not too expensive) Bounce up to St. Petersberg, then to Helsinki. Peace

What’s a good way to find a low airfare with both flexible dates and destinations?

We’re planning to go backpacking through Europe, so both our dates and destinations are rather flexible. We’d like to land somewhere in Ireland and depart from either Italy or Switzerland, and we’d like to go sometime in June.

Sites like Travelocity aren’t good for this because you can only search one destination and date at a time. We’ve got a dozen possible destinations and dates, so it would take forever to search all the possibilities that way.

Any suggestions?

The cheapest way to go is to pack and go to the airport and tell the clerks at the check in counters at the destinations that you are interested in that you are looking for a last minute flight. They will let you know if they have any cancellations or no-shows. A great way to save $$$.

I am traveling to hawaii at the beginning of October, my 8 year old daughter wants to come with me of course. Does anyone know if there are any airlines out there offering discount child fares? Can travel agents really help with lower prices?

Airlines like Southwest and Midwest Airlines (and many other mostly foreign airlines) still offer child fares, but unfortunately for you do not fly to Hawaii. Check websites like Kayak.com for fares on the dates you want to fly. Travel agents sometimes can get very good prices, it can’t hurt to contact a travel agent, especially one that specializes in flights to Hawaii. It doesn’t cost anything to get a quote.
