About a week ago, I had the opportunity to revisit my old friend Dave over the phone. He was an old train-watcher, just like me. He was also an old senior citizen, just like me. I asked him if he’d photographed any good trains lately. He replied, “A few, now and then.”
A long time back in the Washington DC – Maryland area, there used to be some gold mining in Carderock Springs. About five years ago, Dave took to panning for gold in and around Carderock. I thought this was the dumbest thing he ever did.
When we last spoke, Dave told me he and his family had visited Austria and the Czech Republic. I knew (or so I thought) that Dave was living on crumbs, just like the lifestyle of my invalid wife and me. I was shocked to learn what he was really up to.
Dave had managed to accumulate enough earnings from gold panning at Carderock Springs to enable him to check out other parts of the country for gold panning. This allowed him to invest small amounts in gold futures. In time, Dave had established a nice income.
The lesson learned is this: Just like gold bits in a flowing stream, money on the internet literally grows at our feet. You have to learn where to harvest it. You also have to know how to harvest it. Despite all of the hype ads you see, money does not materialize out of thin air. Somebody has to make it happen. You are that somebody.
Here are a few “dos” and “don’ts.”
1. Always avoid spamming or putting your arms around deals you sense are scams. If there is anything that can torpedo your gold mine harvest, this can do it. As soon you have established correspondence with some reputable folk, you can judge who is playing the spam / scam game.
2. Recognize that there are thousands if not millions of users like you and me that are out there that desperately need financial help. Right now, I live off Social Security. I have a wife that is an invalid. I am still trying to get about without a car. I have two adult offspring that each day repeat the immortal words of Clark Gable in “Gone With The Wind.” (“Frankly ….I don’t give a damn!”)
3. Form networks of users like you and me that are in the same boat as in Item 2. Together, we can help each other. Going it alone or going it aided by spam or scam merchants …we can’t do anything.
4. Join network “friends” groups, but proceed with caution. The spammers and scammers are in control over there. We still might be able to harvest a network of friends there but I haven’t found the key that unlocks the door.
5. Start learning how to write and submit articles. Article submission is one of the hot buttons these days.
6. Be prepared for a lot of hard work which might be unrewarding at the start. Also be prepared to receive tons of junk mail in your in box.
7. Remember the words of Mr. Saburo Sakai, the Japanese naval air ace in World War II. He died in 2000 after surviving WW II and living to a ripe old age. In his twilight years, Mr. Sakai was a noted systems consultant for a software company in developing an aerial combat game. He lived by these words: “Never, ever give up!” I think the famed football coach Vince Lombardi said the very same thing.

Soltera Mining Acquires Three More Past-producing Gold Prospects
Soltera Mining Corp. (OTCBB:SLTA) has been busy acquiring properties during the first quarter of 2008. Unstable markets have been unable to dampen the resolve with which management goes about building shareholder value.
Three weeks ago, Soltera announced it had obtained two new Mexican gold properties through the acquisition of Aztek Mineral, S.A. de CV. One week after that, the vending in of the Eureka Copper-Gold property and joint venture with TNR Gold Corp. (TSX.V:TNR) was announced.
That brings to 4 the number of gold projects under development by Soltera, summarized as follows:
El Torno (Argentina, gold, mining rights 7,863 hectares) is located in the Andean Cordillera near the international border with Bolivia. The property contains a very large gold-bearing quartz vein that extends intermittently for at least 14 km long north-south. The vein is sub-vertical and the gold is concentrated in a 2 meter-thick breccia zone along its western flank.
Historically, El Torno was worked by the Incas and the Spanish over a long period and has more than 1,000 m of underground galleries. There is still a small-scale operation extracting gold from elluvial deposits on the east side of the vein. In 1997, Puma Minerals carried out 2,100 m of drilling on a 1 km length; and in 1999 Penoles Minerals (operators of the world’s richest silver mine and Mexico’s richest and largest gold mines) undertook surface sampling, geological mapping and an IP geophysical survey in the same area. The combined (non NI-43-101 compliant) results of this work showed:
a) El Torno is within a “gold province” that extends several hundred kilometers north-south through Argentina and Bolivia;
b) The strongly mineralized breccia zone on the west side of the vein carries up to 37 gpt gold in the tested area, and has potential for several million ounces along the length of the vein;
c) Samples of stockwork zones some distance from the main vein gave up 23 gpt and in one case 112 gpt gold;
d) There are several IP geophysical anomalies that could indicate mineralization, but have not yet been drilled.
Soltera holds almost all the 14 km length and commenced their exploration in late 2007 with a geochemical stream sediment survey combined with structural mapping designed to target specific parts of the vein and the surrounding area for more detailed investigation.
Soltera will now define drill targets using more detailed geochemical and geophysical surveys. Drilling is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2008 and, given success, this will lead immediately to a full feasibility study to commence before year’s end.
Real de Cananea, Mexico
The “Real de Cananea” (Mexico, gold, mining claims 1,030 hectares) is located in Sonora State 26 km from the Cananea copper mine owned by Penoles. It contains a gold-bearing fault zone up to 270 m wide and more than 400m long within Cretaceous volcanic rocks that are intensely altered and carry gold.
There is a small old mine in the center of the property that was probably first worked by the Mayas and certainly by the Spaniards, with several shafts reaching 100 m below surface. The hard wallrock was mined with enormous effort and this, together with the fact that water had to be transported 8 km, indicates the importance of the mineralisation. Gold is widespread on the property, with altered rocks showing up to 65 gpt.
Soltera’s target is a large-scale open-pit and the area is broad enough to accommodate well in excess of 1 million ounces. Geochemical, geological and geophysical surveys will be used to define drill targets and drilling is scheduled for the third quarter of 2008.
Eureka, Argentina
(Argentina, copper-gold, around 10,000 hectares) is located in northern Argentina near the Bolivian border and only 3 km from the El Torno project. The property contains ‘Red Bed’ type strata-bound copper mineralization within sedimentary sandstones, clays and conglomerates. The surface exposures are weathered and contain erratically distributed gold. Alluvial gold has been worked in the area since prior to the time of the Spanish arrival and there is an old mine with over 5 km of underground workings that exploited copper and gold on a small scale until 1987.
The deposit is similar in style to major copper deposits in the Bolivian part of the Tertiary Belt. A geological estimate in the late 1990’s (historic resources estimate which is not NI-43-101 compliant) was 50 to 60 million tons grading 1% copper. Only 70 meters of the 450 m deep formation has been explored to date which leaves extensive upside gold metal detector potential.
TNR Gold Corp. (“TNR”), a Vancouver based mining company listed on the TSX with extensive experience in Argentina, has entered into an option agreement with the option vendor to acquire a 75% interest in the property by spending a total of US$3,000,000 in exploration and option payments before April 20, 2010.
TNR will undertake detailed geological mapping, trenching, geochemical and geophysical surveys, sampling the historic underground workings and drilling. Soltera is not required to incur any expenditure on the project at the present time.
Casita Colorada, the Company’s other project in Mexico, is a large mineralized shear zone worked since the end of the 1800’s for gold. The mineralized zone was at least 400 m long and 150 m wide and there is potential for a substantial gold deposit, but the project is being held in reserve so that the company can concentrate on El Torno and Real de Cananea.
Be sure to keep a close eye on SLTA over the next couple months. Geochemical assay results are due any day now, and there’s plenty of news to be generated by exploration activity on all the properties.

The Critique of the Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: Part Two

Thus, Hamlet’s greatest drawback is his indecision that is fully expressed in the remark: ‘to be or not to be’. When he knows all the bitter truth about his father’s death, he still pretends to be mad and cannot make up his mind to kill Claudius. Although he loves Ophelia for a ling time, he does not marry her. Besides, being an adult, he is still a student at school in England. His father’s death and the appearance of father’s ghost do not allow Hamlet forget the past. He does not want to live as the life does not bring him happiness and joy. Hamlet cannot go through the grief and move on:
‘I have of late—but
wherefore I know not–lost all my mirth, forgone all
custom of exercises; and indeed it goes so heavily
with my disposition that this goodly frame, the
earth, seems to me a sterile promontory.’ (Act II, Scene II)
Consequently, spectators have sympathy for the tragic hero. The audience sympathizes with Hamlet because he loses his father and his mother marries again after his father’s funeral. Hamlet loves his parents and his father’s sudden death hurts him greatly. This sad event hurts him even more when he finds out all the truth about his father’s death. I will call it the astral or energy field for my own ease. When I perform a magick spell I am tapping into that energy field. The basic idea behind any magick ritual is to open the mind to this energy. To expand ones awareness and connect with the energy that binds everything in existence. This is not easy, we are condensed energy, but we do not connect with flowing energy well. If you have ever been shocked by electricity, you now waht i mean. The trick is in thinking as a consciousness, not as a physical being. To let ones thoughts become energy themselves. Then to expel that energy out into the astral.
Once your “spell” is cast into the energy field, the idea is for it to affect probabilities and chance, in your favor. It does this by the quickest and most direct manner. The hard part is adapting your mind to this kind of expansion. To produce and cast out enough energy to get the results you want. This can be hard for some, easy for others and near impossible for others. It is not easy to set aside the mundane world we experience constantly and project ourselves as beings of energy.
Yet some do this without intending to. Identical twins that feel each others pain without ever meeting, the hallucinogenic drug users that feel one with the universe even if only briefly, the “psychic” that picks up on things they couldnt possibly know about. I believe these are all examples of people connecting with the energy field. It is also my belief that this is where ghosts dwell. These are people with strong enough energy and will, or sorrow to remain cohesive elements within the energy. Perhaps all dead creatures are there, the energy of their life and death forever infused with their essence.
I believe this is why its mainly when you are at peace and relaxed you see and experience them. The mind lets its guard down and the energy field becomes closer. The departed energy essences (spirits), thus become easier to stumble across. Thats why they disappear so quickly; they havent left, your mind snapped “back to reality” and slammed down its barriers again. This is why; I believe, sceptics never experience anything. They are trying, either to or not to have an experience. In trying they become incapable. If you watch Ghost Hunters you know they dont go into a location trying, they go in open minded. Huge difference.

Some might say its just a common effect of the drug. I think it is, but in a deeper way than you think. I think the drug is pulling down the barriers of reality and allowing the mind to see the universe as it really is, energy. The experience of senses being spliced, such as tasting a color and seeing sound. What if this in not merely the drug miswiring the brain. What if the drug really is expanding your mind to attune to additional layers of the energy field.
Energy never dies, it only changes.
By conducting magick rituals I am not just trying to make stuff happen, I am trying to connect with the very fabric of time and space. I have touched it, minutely. I have experienced it in dreams and felt its touch in the dark. Yet only briefly. It is a life long pursuit to become one with the astral before death. Gold Mining: How Do We Get Gold Out of the Ground

The precious metal of gold has fascinated humans for thousands of years. But how do we actually get it out of the ground? Let’s take a look at the most common ways to mine gold.
There are two main gold mining methods, one is called “placer” and the other is “vein” mining. And another type of mining is when gold is collected as a by-product in the mining of other metals.
Placer Mining
Placer mining is practiced when the metal is found in unconsolidated deposits of sand and gravel from which the gold can be easily separated because of its high density. The sand and gravel suspended in moving water. Much heavier metal sinks to bottom and is separated by hand.
The simplest method of placer mining is panning. Here the miner swirls the mixture in a pan rapidly enough to carry the water and most of the gravel and sand over the edge while the gold remains on bottom. This was the classic method used by the Forty-Niners during the California gold rush of 1849 and has been immortalized in story, art, and song.
A more efficient form of placer mining uses a sluice box, a U-shaped trough with a gentle slope and transverse bars firmly attached to the trough bottom.
The bars — extending from side to side — catch the heaviest particles and prevent them from washing down the slope.
Sand and gravel are placed in the high end, the gate to a water supply is opened, and the lighter material is washed through the sluice box and out the lower end. The materials are caught behind the bars and are gleaned to recover gold.
Another variation of placer mining is called hydraulic mining. A very strong stream of water is directed at natural sand and gravel banks washing away the lighter materials. The suspended materials treated as if they were in giant sluice box.
Currently the most important placer technique is dredging. A huge shovel of several cubic meters capacity lifts the unconsolidated sand and gravel from soil and mud and the placer process starts.
Vein Mining
Vein, or lode mining is the most important of gold recovery methods. Each ounce of gold recovered requires the processing of about 100,000 ounces of ore. Much gold is deposited in rock veins and this method accounts for more than half world’s total gold production. Gold in veins may be of microscopic particle size, in nuggets or sheets, or in gold compounds. The ore requires extensive extraction and refining.
One-third of all gold is produced as a by-product of copper, lead, and zinc production. Copper must be electrolytically refined to raise its purity from 99% to the more than 99.99% that is required for many industrial purposes.
In the refining process an anode of impure copper is electrolyzed in a bath in which the cathode is a very thin sheet of highly refined copper. This process
creates anode sludge which contains gold in quantities sufficient to make its recovery profitable. One-third of all gold is obtained from such by-products.
Silver and platinum are also recovered from the copper anode sludge in quantities large enough to more than pay for the total refining process.
Extraction, Refining and Uses of Gold
Ore from the gold mine is first crushed in rod or ball mills. This process reduces the ore to a powdery substance. The gold is then extracted by amalgamation with mercury or by placer procedures. Approx. 70% is recovered at this point.
The remainder is then dissolved in dilute solutions of sodium cyanide or calcium cyanide. The addition of metallic zinc to these solutions causes metallic gold to precipitate. This precipitate is refined by smelting and the purification is completed by electrolysis. The sludge produced in this process will also contain commercial quantities of silver, platinum, osmium, and other rare-earth metals.
Gold is one of the first two or three metals, along with copper and silver that was used by humans in these metals’ elemental states. Because of its poor chemical reactivity it was found uncombined and required no knowledge of refining. Gold was used in decorative arts before 9000 BC. And civilizations prized gold for its beauty.
A principal use of gold today is as a currency reserve. For centuries gold was used directly as currency along with silver. During the 19th century, gold assumed the role as the sole basis of the currencies of most nations. Paper money was directly convertible into gold.
World War I, however, disrupted the “gold-standard” system. The original gold standard was gradually abandoned. The United States stopped minting gold coinage in 1934 and the dollar eventually emerged as the principal unit of international monetary transactions.
Since the 1970s, gold has been bought and sold on the world market, with widely fluctuating prices. Today gold reserves maintain only a very indirect relationship with currency values. However, as gold has declined as a currency reserve, its use in industrial processes has risen. On top of this, its beauty and workability continue to give gold an important role in the world’s jewelry industry.

Sceptics will always say that these sightings and accounts, relating to the paranormal are figments of the human mind, hallucinations of peoples over active imaginations. They will maintain that unless they have concrete proof they will not and cannot accept the existence of so called Ghosts, Ghouls and Hauntings. Concrete proof that means solid doesn’t it? I ask are the accounts of millions of people, from all walks of life not proof enough? These accounts/recordings have been documented in many ways, shapes and forms throughout the whole of history. Bringing reporting up to date, in the UK alone, there are on average over 200 reported sightings a year. Whether they are recorded in a picture, included in some old diaries, repeated in ghost stories or on a forum from of the many Paranormal Event Companies, there has to be some truth in it. Not everybody is disillusioned with wild imaginations, are they? Whilst working for UK Ghost Nights I have had a few of experiences that have left me shaken up, and convinced that ghosts do exist and are a part of a science we do not yet understand.

I have witnessed things I cannot scientifically prove, for example a table move across a room under its own volition.
