Is Dubai a fairly cheap place for a week trip?

I have been looking into going to Dubai for 5-7 days. I did a little research and I see where a hotel in London for instance, costs 230 GBP ($450) a night…whereas a night at the similar Crowne Plaza in Downtown Dubai is 550 AED ($150). I also kinda gauging similar flight prices with deals from anywhere to $1000-$1500 roundtrip. I am thinking after you pay for Hotel and Airfare it really wouldn’t be that expensive.

Also one more question. I have been shopping all over Europe and say they have Lacoste Polos that cost 60 GBP and 70 Euros….and those cost $70 in the US they are naturally more expensive in Europe and cheaper for them to buy here. Does this kind of parity hold true for a polo or bag purchased at a mall in Dubai? Thanks

I believe shopping has gotten very expensive here in Dubai. Everything seems to be cheaper in the US. I wouldn’t count on anything being cheaper here. After paying for your hotel and airfare it’s up to you how much you will spend. You don’t have to spend a lot if you don’t want to. The Crown is a nice hotel, but you have to take a taxi if you want to go to the beach. Taxi’s aren’t that expensive either.
