The best deal?
I am possibly going on a trip to SLC, UT this summer to visit family. We are hunting for good airfare deals. We are leaving from BWI (Baltimore-Washington International) to SLC Airport. Anyrime ranging from The end of june to the beginning of august, for at least 5-6 weeks. Coach. Please provide a link. The best deal I could find was with southwest. for about $395 round trip for just me, I am the only one going. Any info would be nice. Thank you!
A good site to search for flights is “18K Travel”
http://www.ytbtravel.com/18ktravel
For best results use the “one way and advanced search” link and in your flight search use the + or – 3 day search on your departure or return flight. Example if you depart 25 June, then it will search 3 days before that and 3 days after. The same thing is true for your return date. It will show you a wide range of prices.
A search based on departure date of 24 June and returning 5 or 6 August: roundtrip with taxes and fees included is: $328.
Take Me out to the Ballgame!
Baseball. Not only is it our national past-time, it’s also a darn good sport. Sure, it can be frustratingly slow sometimes, but it’s really a beautiful game with tons of strategy. It’s also one of the few sports where it truly takes a team effort to win the game. And I can think of no better way to celebrate the love of the game more than travelling around the country to see the different stadiums. From gorgeous Camden Yards in Baltimore, to the rustic Fenway Park in Boston, there are tons of different stadium all around the United States (and even Canada!). Of course, such a trip costs money. And we’re not just talking about the ticket prices, either. There is airfare (or gas money, if you choose to drive) and hotels can be quite expensive. So certainly, there is no getting around the fact that an adventure like this is going to cost you some cash. However, there is a way to make this a little less hard on your wallet: vacation rentals.
As I mentioned before, hotels have a tendency to be very expensive. Say you wanted to travel to Miami, FL to see the Florida Marlins play at Sun Life Stadium. If you wanted to stay at a top flight hotel in Miami, you could pay as high as $466 per night. Of course, there are cheaper options, but even those could cost you around $160 per night. That’s where vacation rentals come in. MetroFlats.com is an up-and-coming vacation rental site. It is free to use and they have plenty of listings in Miami, some as cheap as $65 per night! And unlike hotel rooms, which can be small, you could be getting what amounts to your own house with vacation rentals!
And of course, there are MetroFlats.com listings in other parts of the baseball world as well, such as Baltimore, New York, and Atlanta. And there are even more vacation rentals being added everyday. So pretty soon, you will be able to find a listing for most any city that has a major league baseball stadium. Myself, I’ve been planning to take a baseball stadium tour for a while now. I have already been to both the old and new Yankee Stadium, the late Shea Stadium (I will soon be going to the new Citi Field), and the aforementioned Camden Yards. Most of those are local, besides Baltimore, and I am really looking forward to seeing some of the different parks around the country. And while money is still going to be an issue for the other expenses, I can at least know that using vacation rentals will at least help me save some money on what promises to be an exciting trip! So until next time, play ball!
