In Beijing, some people think this place is a little bit expensive. But you can get very good deals here if you choose the right time to visit this place. Where can I travel in Asia from Shanghai the cheapest?

I’m staying in Shanghai for several months. I only have a 60 day visa so I am planning to leave the country the weekend of July 4 and reenter to renew it; this gives me a good excuse to explore another city. I would like to spend under $400 US on airfare. The only flights I have found for less are to Hong Kong or Seoul. I am not thrilled about going to Hong Kong–I want to experience something different. Right now Seoul is my first choice. Does anyone know of any cheaper flights to outside China from Shanghai?
