Economical Vacation to Kauai, Hawaii?

I am looking for recommendations on finding good discounts on vacation packages, hotels, airfare, etc for a vacation on a budget.

Aloha,
The economy on the islands is pretty bad right now so you should be able to find some really good deals. When are you going and where are you coming from? I just booked a round trip ticket from the west coast to Maui for $314.00 round trip on Hawaiian Airlines (total). I know of a company in California called More Hawaii for Less that can put a package together that has some really good rates too.

http://www.hawaii4less.com/kauai.htm

My biggest recommendation for enjoying your holiday on a budget is to stay at a condo (versus a hotel) which has a kitchen. It cost a fortune to eat out in Hawaii. Also, you may want to check out the Entertainment Book which offers great accommodation discounts and coupons. The initial $30.00 spent on the book is well worth it!

Visiting Hawaii on a Budget: Seven Tips to Use Now

Hawaii is an island paradise that everyone should experience at least once. Unfortunately, because of the small size of the islands and the booming tourism, it can certainly be one of the pricier vacation destinations.

If your vacation budget is a little tight, don’t worry. You can still afford an incredible Hawaiian adventure without breaking the bank. Here are seven tips for visiting Hawaii on a budget.

1. When to Go. The first part of your money-saving Hawaiian vacation plan to tackle is the time of the year. There are definitely peak seasons to Hawaiian travel. If you choose to travel during off-peak time, you’ll avoid the crowds and can also save on airfare and other travel related expenses. Mid-April to mid-June and mid-September to mid-November are the best seasons pricewise.

Ironically, travel dips during these times even though the weather is best on the islands. This is because most people travel to Hawaii when the weather in their hometown is bad. Winter is a popular season for Hawaii travel, so if you go just winter in the fall or just after in the spring you’ll get a better deal.

2. Where to Go. You’ll also need to make a choice of the island you want to visit. Although many people make their way for Oahu or Maui, you should know that these islands generally come with the largest price tags. The Big Island of Hawaii is somewhat more commercialized than the others, but the prices are often lower. Plus, the Big Island offers all of the highlights you want to see on your Hawaiian vacation including the rain forests, deserts, volcanoes and lots of beaches.

3. Find a Discount Flight. Your Hawaiian vacation’s price tag will be largely composed of your airfare. Once you’ve decided on a time of year when you’ll go, start keeping tabs on airfare immediately. You should sign up with one or more online airline ticket sellers to be notified when there is a good price for your tickets. The earlier you book the tickets, the better.

4. Shop Hawaii Package Deals. Try to find a package deal that includes your airfare, car rental (if you need it) and your hotel. And be on the lookout for coupon codes that will take a dollar amount off your total package price, which are sometimes offered by Travelocity and other travel websites. Often these packages give you amazing savings, especially during the off-peak season. Business owners are trying to make up for the slow down in tourism during these parts of the year so they are more inclined to offer you a deal to keep their establishments booked.

5. Think outside the hotel. There may be other options that can save you from breaking your budget on a high-priced hotel. Many people have vacation homes in Hawaii that they rent out during the time when they aren’t using it. See if you can find vacation rentals by owner on Craigslist or other similar websites. If you’re flexible on where you stay, you may be able to find homes for rent for as little as $50 a night.

6. Save on attractions by purchasing a discount pass or coupon book before you go. A Go Maui card, for example, is a discount attractions pass that you can purchase beforehand and that gives you general admission to a variety of Maui attractions: from ocean adventures and tours to culture and history to beach and water fun. Or consider purchasing a Hawaii Entertainment Book. Depending on the time of year, you can get these for as little as $10. At the time of this writing, the Hawaii book offers coupons for all the islands, including restaurant coupons and hotel and travel discounts, including attractions.

7. Set up a google alert with the keywords “Hawaii Discount” and “Hawaii Coupons” If you’ve never done this before, it’s a cinch. Just go to Google.com/alerts and enter your search terms and email address. Google will send you an email update of the latest Google results based on your keywords at the frequency that you specify. This is a really handy way to make sure you stay up-to-date on the latest travel offers, some of which expire very quickly.

With a little planning and preparation you can make your Hawaiian vacation enjoyable no matter what your budget. And if you focus on saving money on your accommodations and your airfare, you’ll have plenty left over to see lots of Hawaii attractions.

Airfare Last Minute Deals

Cheap southwest airfare?!?!?

I need to fly to los angeles this weekend on a last minute trip. What is the best way to find cheap ticket deals. On southwest, as of now, they are 300 roundtrip a piece. I am only going in overnight so i want a good deal.
any suggestions?

Buy your tickets ASAP because the tickets will continue to go up and up, and $300 sounds like a very good deal for a last minute ticket so go buy it ASAP.

Ideas To Make Your Last Minute Travel Affordable

When you discover that circumstances have arisen and you are in need of making last minute travel reservations, you don’t need to panic. Even though there are plenty of tales of people being gouged when they purchased air tickets at the last minute, there are just as many instances of people purchasing the cheapest airfares ever, even for same-day travel. Because the airlines want to fill up their seats on every flight, you might end up finding last minute tickets discounted by as much as 75%.

You might have noticed that there is intense competition in the travel industry and fierce battles between travel websites to capture your attention. That factor is actually good news for travelers who now have many more options than ever before in finding discounted tickets for traveling last minute. With a little time and research to compare the airfare deals on the different travel sites, you can walk away with cheap deals on airfares, hotel reservations and even car reservations.

Last minute travel can be risky and it can be quite a challenge, but if you are up for it you can usually get amazing rates that could even be considered a steal. There are a few travel tips for trying to find those last minute deals that will swing the odds in your favor of securing discount airfare. Following are the top ten tips to help you find incredible airfare deals on last minute flights.

Be Flexible: While not always the most convenient for you, if you are able to take a flight a day earlier or later than your original plan, then you can often get very cheap airfare deals. Airlines depend on those travelers who have very little flexibility and they soak them with full-priced plane tickets. Taking an early morning or late night flight can also help you enjoy cheap airfares.

Shop Around: Many times people are in a panic when trying to arrange for last minute flights. Spending an extra 20 minutes on a couple of other travel websites might yield discounts that can save you a bundle. Don’t just grab the first deal you see available.

Check with the Airlines: Some airlines don’t post their best fares for last minute flights on the travel websites, or even on their own site, while other airlines only post last minute flight rates on their own website. Checking directly with the airlines could uncover those last two seats on the flight you want, but didn’t show up anywhere else.

Get Travel Alerts: Prices for last minute seats can even vary on the same flight! The airlines want every seat occupied and many of them use email travel alerts to accomplish this end.

Subscribe to Travel Newsletters: Many travel related sites offer regular newsletters and some have options that will inform you of special last minute deals. These sites regularly search the internet for the best deals on last minute flights and will send an email when they have found one that meets your criteria.

Check with Travel Agents: Internet booking has hurt many travel agents and has cut into their income. Many times, they can use their connections and pass the savings on to you to help you out with your last minute flying situation. If you find one who goes out of their way for you, then consider using them for future travel bookings.

Package Deals: Sometimes, you will find a package deal for air tickets and hotel reservations that will fit the bill for your last minute plans. Most packages are priced for double occupancy, so check the fine print. If traveling alone, then this tip won’t help much in most instances.

Saturday Updates: Be sure to check all of the airline websites on Saturday mornings. Airfare deals are often updated and occasionally special deals are posted at the end of the week. Many special rates are for a limited number of seats, so Saturday morning is a good time to be able to jump on a deal.

Mid-week Flying: If your last minute situation allows for it, then try to book your flight for Tuesday or Wednesday. These are routinely the slowest travel days and the days when there will be more empty seats for the airlines to fill. Often you can save at least 25% on your air tickets just by shifting your departure day to the middle of the week.

Look Around: When your last minute travel is taking you into a major metropolitan airport, check out the cost of flying into nearby, smaller airports. Often a different landing field will be closer to your final destination and can save you some time, as well as money on last minute flights.

Feds use Jimmy Dimora’s own words against him; recorded conversations part of case
Talk may be cheap, but Jimmy Dimora might pay heavily for some of his. A federal indictment unsealed Wednesday makes it clear that the FBI and IRS used wiretaps to investigate the Cuyahoga County commissioner. The extensive quoting of conversations indicates that agents had been listening to Dimora for months.

Airline Coupons Make Travel Possible

You clip out food coupons to get a discount on your groceries. Why wouldn’t you clip out airline coupons to get an airline discount?

How Coupons Work

Many large airlines have their own variation of the frequent flyer miles. It’s a program they’ve created to entice the traveler who’s likely to be spending a lot of time in the air. The average person might fly once or twice every few years, but these constant travelers are their bread and butter. The airline that brings them in is the one that’s going to end up winning.

As a result, even smaller discount airlines have adopted their own programs in an effort to target this clique. With each mile these customers travel, they become eligible for even bigger rewards, and for travel coupons that offer discounts on their next flight.

Not every traveler will use such a coupon, however. Occasions sometimes arise where the coupon can’t be used before its expiration date. That leaves the frequent traveler with all the benefits from miles of travel, but no way of cashing in on them. As a result, they could go to Internet sites where travelers can buy and sell their coupons. A lot of people aren’t even aware of the existence of these services and lose out big time!

Companies from major airlines to cheap airlines are well-represented in such sites. Whatever your needs, you’ll be sure to find the proper airline.

Why just stop at coupons? If you’re planning on going somewhere, you’ll probably need a ticket as well. Don’t fret – you can get the tickets from the same place.

The Tickets Have to Go Somewhere…

The same principle applies. By patiently watching for deals, you too can get the cheap airfare that’s long eluded you. New websites lets customers buy discount airline tickets directly from unconventional sources such as airline brokers, airline employees and other travelers.

Airline tickets can sometimes be like concert or sporting game tickets. Sometimes business and people will buy these tickets up, only to have something fall through at the last moment. That leaves them with a ticket they can’t return, but they can sell it to someone else.

Searching these sellers is usually your best chance of getting cheap airline tickets. A person is usually much easier to deal with than a company or corporation that sells tickets would be. For one thing, you can talk to them, and they can understand your language. However, you should also make sure that the Internet site you consult is the best one for you. Many sites make a living by adding an extra charge to the transaction. A little bit is all right, but shop around because after all, you’re looking for as cheap an air ticket as possible.

Summer Airfares Rising

summer airfares rising
Airline fares rising
If you think airfares have been rising, it’s not your imagination. Figures just released from the government, while a bit dated, show that airline prices in the first three months of this year rose nearly 5 percent from a year earlier.

Will airfare prices drop for trips around christmas and new years?

I am looking to book a trip to either a caribbean island or a destination in central america from December 23 – January 3rd. Prices are quite high right now and I am curious as to whether or not you think prices will drop, rise, or stay the same?

I know these warm weather destinations are quite popular around christmas time so I am not sure if I should jump on the prices I see now or hold out until summer or later. What do you think and why?

I think it is still cheaper to do advance flight reservation now as the prices will surely rise when Christmas season starts. It usually not wise to buy on the spot air tickets during that time.

Benefits Of Cheap Flights

Ever thought of benefits of cheap flights? You may have a thousand reasons for traveling from one place to another- it could be a vacation with your family, a honeymoon trip or even a business trip. Whatever the reason, you always want to save on travel. Because the more you save, the more money you’ll have at your disposal during the trip. Cutting down travel costs will be definitely a part of your agenda if you’re a typical low- budget traveler, adventurous but thrifty by nature. Now airlines all over the world offer cheap flight rates and this means you can make the most out of your love for travel. If you look around on the internet you will notice a sharp decrease in the cost of air travel in recent years. Cheap air travel is now a reality that anyone can take advantage of.

It is not surprising that most people nurture the wish to travel to distant lands, to countries far-off. Sadly, they need to reconsider their travel plans since flight rates are way too high. But that was then, a few years back. Today most airlines have cheap options for the budget conscious air traveler. And finding cheap flights is easier than ever before since so many booking engines and sites have started operating. This, in turn, has also increased competition levels between different airlines and they have been forced to bring down their prices. And we as consumers receive the benefits of this increased competition in the form of cheap flight fares.

Benefits of cheap flights are many in number and the most important is perhaps the cost- cutting feature. Through cheap flights, air travel becomes cheaper not just for vacationers and honeymooners but also individuals who are required to fly often. If you’re one among them, it is obvious that you’ll try to decrease your expenditure. In situations like this, there’s no better option than a cheap air ticket. Now consider a situation where you haven’t had the time to make your air travel booking on time. If you go for a regular airline, you’ll have to pay a fortune even if it is a short distance that you need to cover. Cheap flights come to your rescue at such times. This is one of the most important benefits of cheap flights. For those heading overseas on a vacation, cheaper flights means you can spend more money on your holiday. So why not save on air fares and put the money towards having fun on your vacation.

Want more benefits of cheap flights? You can search for cheap flights online. Through the web you’ll not only be able to find the cheapest rates but also will be able to compare airfare rates. You’ll also get to avail discounted rates on air travel to specific locations on certain website. But when you’re looking for cheap flights make sure that you go through all the details carefully. Check the flight schedule to the last detail. The small print is important and your negligence can land you in rather sticky situations!

Airfare London Dublin

airfare london dublin

What should i do…. Airfare question!?

Ok, so im trying to get to london, and i found nice tickets from chicago to dublin and then i would change airilnes and get to london ffrom dublin total cost was going to be about 550 however i would need to change planes and all that stuff. anyways when i looked into it on another day there were flights from chicago to dublin, but they layover was in london, and the price was 500. cool right, so can i miss my dublin flight if my layover is in london and just continue to my other flight, or do i have to take my flights so i do not get my ticket canceled. is this doable, and finally, what will happen to my bags if i do do this??? thanx…. and all advice would be appreicated.

If you miss any part of your journey, the rest is liable to be cancelled.

For Chicago (O’Hare) to London, I recommend Aer Lingus. You change plane in Dublin each way (and possibly stopover in Shannon, depending on which day you’re travelling), but the huge benefit is that you’ll clear immigration in Dublin on your way back. Then when you land in O’Hare, you’ll smile as you cut the line of hundreds of people waiting to get through immigration, pick up your bags, and get out.
