They have already agreed that everything should be done to support the two-year-old EAC institution, the first regional civil aviation safety oversight in Africa, whose creation has been hailed by the aviation fraternity world over. The fee will be charged on every embarking passenger by the respective CAA in each country on behalf of the agency, which was established by the East Africa Community in 2007 to oversee the development of effective civil aviation safety and security oversight in the region. The measure is intended to raise the budget of the institution, whose current financing strategy that includes contributions from the partner states, is seen as unsustainable. The agency, temporarily hasted at the East African Community headquarters in Arusha, will soon be relocating its permanent head office to Uganda and its establishment makes the community the only region in Africa to have harmonized civil aviation regulations.

Alitalia will be offering two new intercontinental routes: Milan Malpensa-Miami, from 3rd June 2010: and Rome Fiumicino-Los Angeles, as from 5th June 2010.This means that the Italian airline will be connecting Italy to the West Coast of the United States and Florida with direct flights.
New exclusive services will be reserved for passengers travelling in magnifica class on the ground and on board, such as dedicated check-in counters and exclusive lounges. The airline has also extended its European network by opening two new international routes: from Rome Fiumicino to Vienna and Malaga. As from March twelve flights a week on the Rome-Vienna route have been available and on 31st May 2010 this will increase up to fourteen flights a week. The Rome-Malaga route will be served by daily flights.

Air Algerie Includes One of The new ATR 72-500 of The 4 Ordered In 2009.
The National airline Air Algerie took delivery recently of the first ATR 72-500 of the 4 ordered in 2009.This aircraft was delivered during a ceremony organized in Toulouse.
Air Algerie, which already operates 8 ATR 72-500s, will increase the size of its fleet to 12 with the delivery, during 2010, of the remaining 3 aircraft order. Consequently .Air Algerie will become the largest operator of ATRs on the African continent.
The 4 new ATR 72-500 are configured in the 66 seat version will enable the national airline to propose an optimized service to its passengers, by offering more frequent flights and by opening new routes, in particular to certain regions in the South of the Mediterranean basin.
The manufactures of ATR aircrafts will assist Air Algerie with the commissioning, installation and operation of anew flight simulator, which is part of the plans of the airline to open a training center for pilots in Algeria.

Kenya Airways and TAAG Linhas Aereas de Angola have signed up for the Boeing Maintenance Performance Toolbox, as part of each airlines program to enhance efficiency and improve dispatch reliability through the use of e-enabled technologies.
Toolbox comprises six different tools in one easy-to-use suite of software products that an airline can employ to tailor an efficient solution to its specific need.TAAG and Kenya Airways each ordered Toolbox for use on multiple Boeing jetliner models.
The Managing Director/CEO Kenya Airways Mr. Naikuni said with this new technology of Toolbox it will enable Kenya Airways to improve efficiency and quality in maintenance processes. He further stressed the Toolbox will improve the accuracy of the documentation on Kenya Airways fleet to benefit the entire maintenance team.
Kenya Airways next Generation 737,767, and 777 fleets will be equipped with Toolbox .The airlines 737,767 fleets will utilize three modules each (library, Authoring Systems) while its 767 will use the Library module.
TAAG will employ Toolbox on its Next-Generation 737 and 777 fleets. Each fleet type will utilize four modules: Library, Authoring, Systems and Structures.

The national carrier is currently under pressure to remain profitable and has been refused recapitalization for a new fleet when the leases on its domestic and regional aircraft began to expire this year. At present domestic airlines are maintaining that airfares will not be increased over the June/July period despite reports to the contrary.

The price of airfare is greatly related to the price of oil, therefore the price for fuel the planes have to pay. you should buy now since the market price for oil is only $81 a barrel in the summer is when the oil prices rise over $100 a barrel thus causing fuel prices to increase.

He has offices in Mexico City and Tijuana near San Diego – he said New Mexico is better for him an if I come to New Mexico instead of Tijuana he’ll pay for my airfare…

Am from New Zealand & am tired of holidaying in Australia. I don’t want to go to Asia so that only leaves the Pacific Islands re a cheap holiday as travelling further afield than Asia is very expensive for us. I don’t have a boyfriend to travel with & my friends don’t have the funds to come with me so I wondered about lazing around on the beach on my own. Perhaps that wouldn’t be acceptable there? I might get unwanted male attention, or worse? When I say Pacific, I mean South Pacific so don’t recommend Hawaii as it’s too expensive re American dollars & the airfare. I’m meaning Islands more like Fiji, Samoa, Cook Islands, etc. I know Vanuatu is a bit more primitive so won’t be safe for a female alone and Tahiti & New Caledonia are very expensive. Am asking in this section as so many Aussies & NZers go to the Islands for holidays, have you been alone or seen women alone? I don’t want to go with a singles tour group either as it’s all just people sleeping around with each other!

Now from what I have read, a “full service” massage in Shanghai these days runs approximately 1000 Yuan, which is about $150.00 USD. Sounds like $1000.00 USD would definitely NOT be enough, unless you only get 1 massage.
Also, I just went to Hong Kong in May and between eating, fun, souvenirs and transportation, I spent $2500.00 in seven days.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta, and I’m planning a trip. I’ve noticed that airfare for just about any flight involving the United Kingdom is significantly more expensive than those going to Germany or most Scandinavian countries. Why is this?
It seems hopping around Europe (including Iceland) is quite cheap, but the transit between Edmonton and Europe is much more (for obvious reasons). Iceland seems to be the cheapest place to fly from Edmonton though (I think).

As noted below, Salt Lake and Denver are options. Jackson Hole has an airport, but expect to pay more. I drive from Alabama when I go, but lots of folks I know fly into Billings, Montana.

Bikes, Babes and Beer in Daytona Beach For October Motorcycle Festival
As the name would suggest Biketoberfest is a motorcycle festival generally held in mid-October in Daytona Beach. Motorcycle enthusiast from all over the country and even some from Europe come to see and be seen.
Biketoberfest began as The Daytona Fall Tour,” was first held in October 1992. It all started when Janet Kersey was hired as director of tourism events and promotions she was tasked by the Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau to create special events that would attract visitors during off-season periods.
The first assignment they gave to her was to create a special biker event, similar to the ever-popular Bike Week, centered around the American Motorcycle Association’s annual fall races held each October at Daytona International Speedway. The event, was called “The Daytona Fall Tour featured a 125-mile scenic touring ride through Volusia County, bike shows, races at Daytona International Speedway and Bikefest — a series of activities offered mainly by the merchants of Main Street. The motorcycling festival attracted 5,000 new visitors, mostly from Florida to the Daytona Beach area.
The success of the Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Daytona Fall Tour attracted increased interest from local merchants and the surrounding community. In 1993, local companies, especially Daytona Harley-Davidson, sponsored concerts, trade shows, and other activities. Under the CVB’s direction,during that time period, Biketoberferst activities grew to 40 events in a three-day time span, today there are many events to watch and maybe even a few you’d like to participant in.
During the event the best place to start is right on Main Street in Daytona Beach. This popular bikers’ spot has hosted celebrities, international guests and media from across the globe. You just can’t get the full Biketoberfest experience without a stroll down this ultra famous street. Once there you’re likely to see anything and everything including spectacular, high-end custom bikes and the latest, goofiest bikes on the planet, and vendors are everywhere selling the most unique items and food around. Be sure to visit some of the famous Main Street bars, many of which have been around for decades serving generation after generation of bikers. Biking has become an all in the family pastime, many wives ride with their husbands, on their own bikes, and as the kids get older sometimes they even join in the fun. Be sure to pick up many of the many unique styles of Biketoberfest t-shirts always on sale to commemorate your time there whether it’s your first or fiftieth visit, every year the t-shirts are specially made with a different design and become collectors editions the minute the event is over. When you want to take a break from the craziness be sure to visit the Daytona International Speedway, after all it was the motorcycle races that started all the bike rally fun to begin with. Years ago the motorcycle races were held right on the beach, large crowds gathered to watch. It was a very popular annual event and people came from all over to see these adrenaline junkies race over the sand and through the surf at record-breaking speeds. The crowds screamed their enthusiasm as these early racers put on an amazingly spectacular show. Even today these daredevils on extremely fast, high powered bikes take some incredible chances as man goes and against machine over the famous high banks and corkskrew turns of Daytona International Speedway. If you’re looking to get completely put of the crowds for some quite solitude take your bike out on the Loop, it’s like no other ride. It’s freedom, sunshine, open road and graceful curves; it’s a riders dream. If you have never taken this ride it’s highly recommend that you do so. This leisurely ride will give you a feel for Florida’s natural beauty, you can check out nearby Ormond Park and see the Fairchild Oak tree – one of Florida’s oldest living Oaks.
