The Basics For Any Las Vegas Trip
There are a few things that you should know before planning a trip to Las Vegas. These are the things that you should remember before everything else. The last thing you want is to come to Las Vegas only to realize that you forgot something at home. Let’s get started with the first basic rule when coming to Las Vegas, bring some comfortable walking shoes. This should be a MUST for anyone coming to Las Vegas. Chances are that you will end up spending a lot of time walking on the strip (and probably standing in lines as well) and nothing is worse than having blisters on your feet that will impair your ability to have fun in Las Vegas.
The second basic rule is to remember is to pack clothing that will fit the weather during your stay in Las Vegas. The weather here in Las Vegas can be fairly predictable. Between the months of May and August, the weather is usually HOT – especially in June and July where you can expect temperatures above 110 degrees Fahrenheit or 43 degrees Celsius. Between the months of October and April you can expect colder days and even colder nights. Remember to check the weather for Las Vegas prior to your trip.
The third basic rule is to try to avoid the busy holiday seasons when planning your trip to Las Vegas – if you can. Las Vegas is one of the busiest places in the nation around holidays. If you are coming to Las Vegas during a holiday remember that you will typically pay higher prices for your airfare, hotel, and car rental. Don’t forget that there WILL be large crowds. If you must come to Las Vegas during a holiday, make your reservations ahead of time to ensure that you will have the best availability to the all of the accommodations that you will need.
There are other basics you should remember as well. Remember that Las Vegas is in the desert. So remember that you will need to drink plenty of water. Margaritas and Beers cannot provide the necessary water intake that you need. Las Vegas is a very dry climate when compared to where many people live and it is very easy for the dryness here to take advantage of you.
If your purpose in coming to Las Vegas is to golf, then you should come prepared. Las Vegas has some of the nations most beautiful and lavish golf courses. You should bring your best clubs along with you – though you can rent clubs at the golf course if you decide not to bring your clubs. When speaking of things to do in Las Vegas, you should bring some dress clothes with you if you decide to go to one of the incredible Las Vegas shows – which you MUST do. You will not be disappointed with the shows that Las Vegas has to offer you.
Las Vegas is recognized for attracting the big spenders but it should be known that it is very possible to spend economically and have a great vacation for two that would cost $100 per day. However, on the other hand a big spender can spend thousands on ONE meal. When it comes to nice restaurants, make sure you look for the menu outside of the restaurant before you enter so that you can gauge the affordability of the restaurant if you are on a budget.
If you plan on visiting any of the destinations around Las Vegas like Hoover Dam or the Grand Canyon, it would be a good idea to either drive your own car (if you’re close enough) or rent a car. It is easy to be fooled by the distances of these destinations that surround Las Vegas. Not too mention that it is easy to loose your sense of time when you are having fun in the casinos.
Las Vegas is also one of the biggest places in the nation to have a wedding. Las Vegas is almost as famous for weddings as it is for gambling. More than 130,000 couples apply for a marriage license each year in Las Vegas. There are no traditions for a Las Vegas wedding. You can go as informal as you wish. You can have Elvis preside over your wedding. You can even do a drive-thru wedding if you’re strapped for time.
The last basic rule is to live the Las Vegas motto while you’re here: “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas.” So don’t be afraid to let go and have a good time. Just don’t do anything to attract the police and you will have an incredible time that you will remember forever.
Airfare Questions:
when is the cheapest airfare and hotel to vegas for three nights?
I was just in Vegas last month getting married. If you book your airline online, it is pretty cheap, like half off what you would pay at the gate. Also look up vegas hotels on webcrawler, and see what hotels are the cheapest. I stayed at the stardust and it was really nice, they had a promotion going on so it was like 58/night. Which is real good. A lot of the hotels have specials becasue they want you to go there so bad. Check out the stardust, nice rooms and a big casino with a mall inside.
hope that helps =)

Travelling to Southeast Asia From the Usa
About 5 years ago, I decided that I wanted to travel to Southeast Asia. The reason? Just to explore and expose myself to something totally new. It was important for me to do this in order to grow intellectually and have a better understanding of other cultures as well as my own. So I started researching flight costs on the Internet. I checked out all the big websites like Orbitz.com and Expedia.com and also tried specific airlines (just to get an idea on costs). I was surprised at how inexpensive it was. I was expecting to see tickets range from $2000-$5000 since it can cost close to $1100 just to travel from coast to coast in the US. Instead, I saw prices ranging from $700-$1800. I was shocked. All this time I’ve been putting off traveling and it was only $700 away? I felt cheated. Since I didn’t have any specific date in mind I played around with different dates/times of year and durations. I finally decided to go in the off-season of summer (it was going to be REALLY hot there) and set a timeframe of 3 weeks. I had no further itinerary and I wanted to keep it that way. I like being able to take things as they come and modify my adventure according to what grabs me when I’m there.
I booked a flight about 3 months in advance for $716. Left San Francisco for a layover in Tokyo and then I had to transfer planes to Bangkok. The total trip took about 17 hours. I know it sounds bad, but it wasn’t at all! Japan airlines (JAL) had video screen in front of each seat with several movies to watch and games to play. I watched two movies, took a long nap and I was in Japan. My other plane wasn’t quite as plush. It was an Asia-based airline, which seemed to be on an old plane, but the food was good and not as many people so I could spread out onto three seats to sleep.
My time spent in Thailand was unforgettable and I hold these memories of the culture and people quite dear to me. I have an entirely new perspective of a world that I never really knew existed. It also helped me to become more appreciative of my own culture and of foreigners. It takes a lot of guts to travel outside your comfort zone, but the effort is well worth it and in my opinion necessary to grow as an individual.
The lessons I learned in this process of traveling as cheaply as possible (since I don’t make a lot of money) is to keep your schedule loose and try as many different dates and durations in order to find the best prices. Layovers are typically going to be cheap that direct flights, and in some cases direct flights just aren’t even possible. The trick is that there is no trick. There is also no magic process to find the best deals. You have to research and learn by doing. If I had to do it all again, I’d probably travel use more taxis or hire a personal driver to show me around as I didn’t realize till later how cheap these things are in a third world country.

How do you deal with a family member who lies to you?
My brother is 20 and has a history of ADD. I’m older than him. He was always a troublemaker as a child and has grown into a selfish person who has taken money from his parents and his job. He met a woman online and after only a few months moved out of state with her leaving everything (not much) behind. I helped them with the airfare (I know, big mistake) and still didn’t get paid. I really think he’s lying when he says they sent a money order since he’s lied before. And I think she lies with him too. I think this is going to push the relationship to an end…how do I let go even tho I love him so much. He is my brother.
ACTUALLY YOU DON’T HAVE TO LET GO, JUST LEARN TO COPE. DON’T “LEND” MONEY OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO “GIVE AWAY”. AND EVEN THOUGH HE LIES CONSTANTLY JUST HEAR WHAT HE TELLS YOU BUT DON’T PROCESS IT AS A TRUTH UNTIL HE SHOW YOU THAT YOU CAN TRUST HIM ENOUGH TO BELIEVE HIM. YOU DON’T HAVE TO STRESS YOURSELF OUT TO “DEAL” WITH HIM, I HAVE A COUSIN THAT LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING AND I LOVE HER DEARLY AND USED TO FEEL THE SAME WAY YOU DO, BUT I HAD TO LEARN THAT SOMETIMES PEOPLE LIE TO MAKE THEMSELVES FEEL “SPECIAL” OR HAPPY AND AS LONG AS MY COUSIN WAS HAPPY ALL IS WELL BECAUSE I’M HAPPY. AND PRAYER…LOTS N LOTS OF PRAYER HELPED! GOOD LUCK!
P.S. OF COURSE SHE LIES WITH HIM, NOT SAYING IT’S RIGHT, BUT SHE’S TRYING TO PROVE HERSELF TRUST WORTHY TO HIM…IRONIC ISN’T IT?

Expected Impact of United Merger
The world’s new largest airline may impact fliers in the following ways:
- Prices are expected to increase on routes where the airlines offered competing nonstop flights, such as Houston to Denver and Newark to San Francisco. Frequently, less competition results in higher prices.
- Fees between the two airlines are similar. The biggest difference is that United charges $150 to change a ticket whereas Continental only charges $50 if the new departure time is within 24 hours of the original time. Otherwise, both airlines charge $150 for ticket changes.
- Frequent flier miles programs will change since Continental’s program has no expiration date, whereas United’s miles expire in 18 months, if no additional miles are added. No announcement has been made as to which plan the new United will follow, but many expect the expiring mileage plan to eventually be adopted.
Short term, travelers who belong to both United and Continental frequent flier programs will benefit since their miles will be merged, meaning that they will be closer to earning free tickets.
- Few cities are expected to be dropped from the new United’s destination roster. The merger airlines largely complement each other with Continental’s strong position on the East Coast, particularly in the greater New York area, and United’s focus on the West Coast and Chicago. Cutbacks are expected in overlapping hubs such as Cleveland, Dulles, and Washington.
- Passengers will be able to fly to more destinations without having to switch airlines as a result of this merger. Passengers are more likely to be able to fly on a United jet going to China, Europe and Latin America.
Airfare Questions:
Has anyone ever taken Amtrak? Any pros and cons?
I am trying to go from Denver, CO to Grand Rapids, Mi. The cost of airfare is very expensive, so I was thinking of taking Amtrak. It seems that I will have to go to Chicago, and then on to Grand Rapids. Any pros and cons on Amtrak?
I love taking train travel. It is a very social experience if you like to meet lots of new people. If you are not getting a sleeper, then bring a pillow. Train travel is a wonderful way of seeing the U.S. and it is very relaxing.

Regular Fans Can Bypass The Concert and Sporting Event Ticket Brokers From New York to Los Angeles by Having Free Presale Passwords & Ticket Codes
GETPRESALES.COM, for 3 years now has offered a completely free service to regular fans. The service is a free way to buy tickets to sporting events and concerts BEFORE the general public.
Many “at face value” outlets such as Ticketmaster, Tickets.com, Comcasttix, frontgate tickets, Livenation, Evenue, and Etix have “presales” to offer a
select group of people the opportunity to purchase tickets before the rest of the general public. The info you need to access these presales is called presale passwords, presale passcodes, ticket codes, concert codes, ticketmaster codes, or ticket alerts.Sometimes you can get the password on your own by being on the email list of radio stations, bands, venues, and promoters.
If that sounds like alot of work, you’re not alone. Most people just wait to hear about one of their favorite bands coming to town, and then try to buy tickets. Most of the time, tickets have already gone onsale and you are left with the nosebleeds or you have to pay the brokers a hefty fee.
Getpresales.com lets you be the broker. All you have to do is take a few seconds to check the site every day, or sign up for alerts. Getpresales will do the work for you. The password and link along with the presale start time to your favorite shows is posted every day FOR FREE.
History of ticket brokering:
Ticket resale is the act of reselling tickets for admission to events. Tickets are bought from licensed sellers and are then sold for a price determined by the individual or company in possession of the tickets. Tickets sold through secondary sources may be sold for less or more than their face value depending on demand, which itself tends to vary as the event date approaches. When the supply of tickets for a given event available through authorized ticket sellers is depleted, the event is considered “sold out”, generally increasing the market value for any tickets on offer through secondary sellers.
Ticket resale is a form of arbitrage that arises when the amount demanded at the sale price exceeds the amount supplied (that is, when event organizers charge less than the equilibrium prices for the tickets).
In British English, one who resells tickets is often called a tout, and in American English, Canadian English, and Australian English, such a person is often called a scalper, and the practice is called scalping. However, these are colloquial terms used to refer to individuals selling tickets on the street or other nearby public places outside a venue or event. Established companies in the business of reselling tickets refer to themselves as ticket brokers. Registered businesses reselling tickets to popular events are bound by laws, such as local and state laws in the United States, and must operate within those laws to maintain their status as a legitimate business. Like the scalpers of old, however, there are no restrictions on how much ticket prices can be marked up.
Ticket resellers use several different means to secure premium and previously sold-out ticket inventories (often in large quantities) for events such as concerts or sporting events. Established resellers often operate within vast networks of ticket contacts, including season ticket holders, individual ticket resellers and ticket brokers. They make a business out of getting customers hard-to-find and previously sold-out tickets that are no longer available through the official box office; recently, obtaining tickets through special presales has become more common. These presales often use unique codes specific to an artists fan club or venue. The advent of presales has allowed more individuals to participate in reselling tickets outside of a brokers office.
Scalpers also may attempt to use automated software to get hundreds of tickets in the first moments of internet sales, getting an advantage on fans trying to buy the same tickets. Ticketmaster filed a lawsuit against a company that manufactured and sold software designed to get around Ticketmaster’s security measures. At present, however, the larger venue- or team-affiliated sellers such as Ticketmaster and Tickets.com now use session-specific, human-eye-readable prompt strategies such as reCAPTCHA in an attempt to prevent such automated reservation of tickets.
Ticket scalpers work outside events, often showing up with unsold tickets from brokers’ offices on a consignment basis or showing up with no tickets at all and buying extra tickets from fans at, or below face value with their own money on a speculative basis hoping to resell them at a profit. There are many full-time scalpers who are regulars at particular venues and even have a pool of loyal buyers. These full-time scalpers are often sought out by fans hoping for a last minute deal and are comfortable buying from a familiar face, expecting that they are less likely to be ripped off (i.e. with counterfeit or stolen tickets) than they would be by a stranger. However, there are plenty of scam artists that sometimes follow a concert tour from city to city selling fake tickets to unsuspecting buyers for whatever they can get. Another common practice is that scalpers would sell tickets that have already been scanned at the venue gate since entry is typically allowed only when a ticket is scanned for the first time. Since the tickets were authentic, buyers would have no way of telling if a ticket had been used or not.
Ticket brokers operate out of offices, and use the internet and phone call centers to conduct their business. They are different from scalpers in that they offer a consumer a storefront to return to if there is any problem with their transaction. The majority of transactions that occur are via credit card over the phone or internet. Some brokers host their own websites and interact directly with customers. These brokers are often able to offer additional services such as hotel accommodation and airfare to events. Other brokers partner with online providers that run independent e-commerce sites. These sites act as portals that allow users to purchase tickets from a large network of brokers. They also serve to validate the identity of individual brokers and provide additional service guarantees about the authenticity of tickets purchased through their networks.
A notable recent example of re-selling occurred at the 2004 Glastonbury Festival. Tickets, initially offered for sale online, were sold out within the first few hours of availability; however, afterwards, large numbers of tickets started appearing on eBay and other online marketplaces. Not only professional ticket resellers were involved; many ordinary concert-goers had, apparently, purchased twice the number of tickets they required then sold the unused tickets at double the original price, thus effectively getting their own tickets for free and further clouding the already fine line between ticket reseller and concert-goer.

If you fear missing a connecting flight, report in advance to the travel agent or the airline customer service about the transit time. They shall make arrangements for the next connecting flight and your lodging requirements.
International Flights: Ticket Cancellation
Visit the cancellation page of your travel agent’s website to cancel your tickets. The refund will be automatically directed to your bank account. If you have used the international ticket partially, there is no refund. The cancellation charges also depend on factors, such as:

Airfare Questions:
Where should I go in Australia with my Aussie AirPass?
I’m planning on using the Aussie AirPass deal with Qantas: round trip airfare from Los Angeles to Australia, plus three flights within Australia, all over 21 days (so overall you can visit four different places in Australia). I know I would like Sydney to be one of the four destinations, but I’m not sure what I should use for the other three. I’m a college-age male, who will be going with my mom who is in her fifties. I have no international travel experience other than going to Canada. Some options that we have discussed for the other three destinations are melbourne, perth, uluru (ayers rock), darwin, and cairns, among others. We’d like to get a full taste of australia, preferably including the great barrier reef (it seems like there are many airports to choose from for this). The trip will be in August 2008 (hopefully Qantas will have the a380 by then!). What would you reccomend?
On your first trip I would actually skip Melbourne because there is nothing THAT interesting to see here. You have to go to Ayers Rock (there is an actual Ayers Rock airport – AYQ), because seeing Ayers Rock is a once in a lifetime thing that you should do, especially if you don’t travel a lot. Sydney obviously because that has the most famous harbour in the world. Then you should definitely do great barrier reef, the best aiport to fly into would be Cairns (CNS) so that you can stop in a town called Port Douglas on your way to great barrier reef. Then if you are into beaches and theme parks you can fly to Brisbane (Qantas no longer fly into the Gold Coast – but Brisbane is about 1 hour drive from Gold Coast). Or if you are into scenery you can visit Adelaide (ADL) so that you can visit the wineries in the famous Barossa Valley. All of these activities will be fun and a great experience for both you and your mum.

Airfare Questions:
What is the least expensive time of year to fly from Florida to Italy?
I would prefer to fly roundtrip from Tampa to either Rome or Pisa as my final destination would be Cortona, Tuscany. I’m looking for the least expensive time of year to fly (obviously NOT summer). Would airfare between the U.S. and Italy be higher on Thanksgiving week than early Nov. or early Dec.? Also would I save much money by booking to London on a major carrier and flying Ryanair or Easyjet between London and Italy?
Another possibility–Globespan flies between Orlando Sanford and Glasgow, Scotland (Glasgow International). Ryanair flies between Glasgow Prestwick (different airport) and Pisa. Is it feasible to travel between Glasgow International and Prestwick and if I went this route would it be significantly less expensive than booking on a major carrier round trip to Rome or Pisa?
The least expensive time of the year to fly is between January to April and between September to November. These are not considered the ‘pick’ of the season.
